BMED started life as British Mediterranean Airways in 1994. It was
started by a group of private investors.
In 1997 British Airways bought BMED and started to operate
it in BA colours with BA flight codes.
In February 2007, BMI (British Midland) bought BMED from BA
and started operations in October 2007 in full BMI colours and using BMI flight codes(BD).
The head of BMED is David Richardson. Around 720 staff are
employed by BMED.
