Aer Arann first flew in 1970. It initially operated as an island
operator out of Galway. Known as Aer Arann Express.
Expansion of routes to other parts of Ireland took place in the 1980's.
In 1994, ownership of the company passed to Galway Aviation Services and headed,
since then, by Padraig O'Ceidigh.
The company now operates around 600 flights per week to 40 routes across Ireland,
UK and Northern France.

Comitted to a £120m deal to buy 9 ATR42-500 aircraft - "the greenest aircraft in
the world"
HQ has transferred to Dublin in 2007.
